We usually go back home to the small town where both of my parents were raised. The entire town celebrates together with games, tournaments, booths, etc. It reminds me of Pollyanna. My favorite parts of the day are the parade where some families have several generations together on a float and most of all the early morning 5k that raises money for different causes each year.

the west point, ut parade w/ my family - its just small town enough that a long line of tractors bring up the rear, and just city enough to earn us a fly-over from the blue angels (which make my mom cry every year!). my husband's family doesn't do a big 4th of july, but after 6 yrs of being married to me, he is absolutely hooked!

My favorite tradition is the small-town children's parade my city does. The kids decorate their bikes and wagons and line up behind the cub scouts. Those little cubs hold the flags and methodically walk around the city center block. The kids follow while the parents sit on the sidewalks and throw candy AT the kids. It's super cute and takes about 10 minutes, but my kids think it is the best thing in the world!

Watching the stadium fireworks from my sister's house on the hill. And snow cones!

Love Ryan's voice! Love that shirt.

Being out at the lake with the family. Although, I am not sure what is more entertaining. The people watching or fireworks. It's always a close tie. Love the shirt. Can't wait to check out his music.

We go to the parade and the stadium of fire! In fact we are leaving our 3 week old with my sister tomorrow night so we can keep the tradition alive.

I have such a huge crush on Ryan. And I'm lucky enough to go to Stadium of Fire for free this year! I've always loved fireworks. My mother despises them, but I WILL have them at my wedding. So magical.

Going to the "Hot Rockin' 4th" demolition derby and fireworks in Ogden. Not the best fireworks but glorious people watching.

My favorite Independence Day tradition is going somewhere to watch fireworks with my husband. He loves fireworks, but since the loud noise kind of freaks me out (and there was a bad accident when I was a child where a friend of mine died during the fireworks in town), I get to have extra husband cuddles and try to get over my fear of fireworks. Hmm, maybe since I'm actually looking forward to fireworks this year, I may be getting closer than I thought! Happy Independence Day!

Rice crispy treats and naming each firework before we light them. Silly, but so fun. I can't even tell you how many family inside jokes have resulted from this. :)

My favorite tradition is all the cooked meat. Sounds weird, but I am obsessed with smoked anything, BBQ's, BBQ sauces, and all the protein gluttony I can handle!

These comments are fun. We usually watch Independence Day at some point during the week. Eating tons of a watermelon and a ward party or two are our most consistent traditions- it's crazy hot here everyone fourth but we love it!
