happy (miracle) fathers day to you, d!

for those of you who know our family or have been following the blog, you will understand how incredible it is that my dad was well enough to come to nyc for a week!

he is a walking miracle.

even though he fights limited mobility and a lot of pain (due to scleroderma-a side affect from 2 bone marrow transplants), he was an energizer bunny in nyc.
we saw his beloved yanks (he thinks a-rod is a thoroughbred!) and ran to the shake shack after for a burger.

i was so relieved that he loved peter and the starcatcher as much as i do. at one point, he was LITERALLY crying/laughing and begged it to stop. i loved how much he enjoyed it.

"to have faith is to have wings."

we saw evita and both absolutely LOVED  elena roger.

we brunched at our favorite, norma's,

and i cried thru war horse.

then, always on top of the nyc culinary scene, dad wanted to try barbuto's chicken (because it's daniel boulud's favorite dish), and it lived up to his every expectation. he proclaimed it the best chicken he's ever eaten! i always love dining al fresco at barbuto. it was a perfect night and a perfect trip.
dad's only regret was that he only saw 3 shows instead of his usual 8... which means he'll have to come back soon.

my dad is the most positive, fun, energetic, curious and interesting person i have ever met. the city invigorates him in a way i so relate to and i'm so happy he loves it as much as i do.

thank you, miracle man, for pushing thru fatigue and pain to come hang with me, feed me too much, and for allowing me to give you mr- toad's- wild- ride- wheelchair rides throughout nyc.

i love you toooo much!
happy fathers day to you and here's to many more!

p.s. come back soon!

This post made me so weepy. So thrilled your dad was able to come out and have a wonderful time with you. I hope his health improves. Dads are the absolute best!
As a side note, I LOVED Elena as well. I was so disappointed when I was walking out to hear some older folks ripping on her. I thought she was absolutely amazing and endearing. That tiny girl packs some serious punch!
