BRAVE

this afternoon, i was invited to screen disney PIXAR's new film BRAVE in their sweet & cozy screening room on park avenue.
naturally, i brought TONY nominee (and bestie--saying TONY nominee will NEVER get old, i'm so freaking proud) laura osnes because she'll be originating cinderella this fall on broadway (no big deal)....
i felt one princess should see another....

anyway, we loved it.
not only because princess merida has fierce curly hair (i'm dying for her length), but because it was a grown up film for teenage girls. while i usually live for the love story, i was happy that this was the coming of age journey of a girl and her mother (voiced by emma thompson whom i love) and their complicated relationship. since when have we seen a disney princess and her LIVING (non-wicked step) mother?

this is a much more dramatic, action-packed film and not a light and fluffy musical in the tangled vein (i think there were maybe 3 or 4 songs at most)... it may be to scary for the tiny ones, but it's a great film for the tween set (both girls and boys).

maybe laura and i sobbed thru the ending.....

and the animation.... just stunning scottish vistas!
we were absolutely blown away.
if only my curls looked that good....

I'm so excited to see this! My cousin works for Pixar and illustrated (designed) the main horse...you'll probably understand that better than me right now since I've only seen pictures! So cool!

I'm so excited for this! My best friend is too because she has two little girls with fiery red hair just like Merida (?). Awesome.
