alphabetical dating: what's in a name?

the first 5 boyfriend i ever had, shared one thing in common; the letter J.

johnny
jared
jared
jason
john

it's weird... i've dealt with a lot of j's since....

well, last week, we christened a new name:

i went out with 3 different men with variations (on the spelling) of the name kasey.

2 are legally named kasey and one used it as his alias (fearful i had used an alias as well..... that's what happens when you meet randos in a restaurant-serious foundation of trust there).

um... also, who knew kasey was such a popular name between men ages 32-36?!

so i guess we're now moving thru the alphabet.

now accepting applications for men whose names begin with L.

Every serious boyfriend I've ever had has been a J name...and I married a J too. Luckily I had a few flings with other letter otherwise I'd be really afraid of being OCD or something.

I refuse to date guys with J names. My friends think I am crazy and superstitious, but I have been involved with 5 men with J names and each one has ended worse than last. Weird how these kind of things happen, no?

Ooh, this could be a good sociology experiment. The J names! My best friend and I have laughed for years about the J names! It's already clear from your story, our experience, and the first two comments: J names were just HUGE for boys in the late 70's. I'm just a few years older than you (33), and married (to a J!) but when I was single and living with my best friend, we LIVED for keeping our string of dates with J names going. She had Jeremy, Jason, Jared, and Jude; I had a different Jeremy, different Jason, Jim, Jay, and finally the J that I ended up marrying. Of course there were several boys with non-J names mixed in there, but we always felt especially excited to meet a cute boy with a J name. Good luck on the L's though. . .Lance? Luke? um. . .that might be a harder one to keep going. I did go to high school with a Lief. But I think L names were much bigger a generation or two before us--Leonard, Lyle, Larry. . .they sound like old guys. But then you can move on to the M's which were also big for our age--Mike, Mark, Matt--lots of those around!

Is it bad that I can't see the name "Kasey" without thinking of crazy guard-and-protect-your-heart guy from Ali's season of The Bachelorette?

Okay, this is nuts...I went through a bunch of "J"s:

Jason
Jared
James
...

And ended up marrying a KC. Maybe your recent date needs another chance? Haha...

Weird though, right?

When I first started dating my husband, I was dating three other guys (casually) too: Bryant, Bryan, Ryan, and Ryan. Spooky.
