i think we added our own tradition-i like to smooch grady's smooth head specially when i'm wearing ruby woo red lipstick.

we have many many sacred theatre traditions- including the passing of the gypsy robe.
it's a very emotional and special ceremony where we all have our own private "what i did for love" moments.

congrats to grady for receiving it for wonderland (which, by the way, grossed over $900,000 last week! we're a hit!)!

korean r & r

hi.

it's me.

still exhausted.

on the day after opening, nina, mom, and i schlepped to queens (and it WAS quite a schlep) to go to spa castle (a korean bath house/spa) for some r & r.

we got massages (mine was freaking terrible but mom and nin had good therapist so that's all that matters), ate strange korean foods (which i loved), drank loads of bubble tea, hung in the outdoor pools and experienced communal baths. nina and i have done it before but that was a new experience for my mom..... one i'm not sure she'd like to revisit.

i love the community of women bathing together. i think it's cool and so natural--clearly, i don't have any modesty issues.

we finished the evening at pulinos for delish salads, pizza and budino.

today (still feeling exhausted), nina and i had a private pilates session in my apartment from my friend sherri (spoiled, i know!) then headed to korea-town (34th street area) for an amazing breakfast (at 2 pm), more foot massages because my louboutin's killed my feet (again... terrible.... i can't win), and $40 in korean junk food

very very strange but very good treats.

i really wanted to trap the korean ladies into saying something terrible about us then nina would spring out and speak korean but she outed herself too early... everyone was shocked and delighted that she spoke korean so well. many of them couldn't understand how a white girl could sound like that. she was in heaven...

and now i end the night in a korean mask (no, not freddy kreuger). i love their skincare.

hoping tomorrow i feel a little less tired.

WONDERopening

ladies in waiting

opening nights are like christmas mornings and weddings.

sleepless nights before, presents and excitement at the show then talking to everyone and no one at the party.

i'm SOOOO exhausted.

once i upload all my pix, i'll give you more details, but we had an amazing time, and the party had the BEST food i've ever had at ANY broadway opening.

our reviews were lame but can i tell you a secret? i haven't agreed with most ny reviews i've read in the last 7 yrs. and the people who are reviewing this show aren't interested in a sweet family show with a great message and fun music.

.... listen, wicked got terrible reviews and look at that machine now!

as kathleen marshall once told our GREASE cast,

"fine food critics don't think highly of mcDonalds, but that doesn't keep people from going!"

stellie likes it dirty.

stellie has a sock fetish.
it's sort of a problem. i'm losing socks- left and right (literally).
see, i'll walk in the door and give her her little treat.
then, she puts her paw on my shoe and looks up at me with puppy eyes.
next, i remove boot/sock and she steals the sock and waits for the second sock.
after she's stuffed both socks into her little trap, she runs to my bed and proceeds to roll around on top of my socks which is totally strange.
she is totally disinterested in clean socks and will stash the dirty socks in covers and crevices in the bed.
when it's time to retire, i often find her with her nose inside a pile of old socks she unearths from her hiding places.....

it's weird...and i love it.

my aunts twisted dog used to put OLD soap inside DIRTY socks and carry it around and roll all over it.

anyway, i need new socks. lots of them.

mom and dad (and nina and their friends)
are all in town (4 bodies sleeping in my studio)
and we are eating and playing like crazy (amidst continued rehearsals & previews).
to add to the fun/insanity, sweet V has been thrown into the mix (and we're trying to pack it in so he can hang/meet the fam and see each other as much as possible before he goes to europe for 3 wks...boo).

so that's the long and short of why i've been so absent.
i love you, i do.
i really just haven't had a second to be online..... sooo.....
we open on sunday-after that, you'll hear a lot of me.....
