Two things= basement apartment
= A/C running
Seems to do the trick.
Lemon Slushes and a fan constantly blowing on me. Its basically bliss.
Well, being from Texas, you guys can't even compare the heat in New York to here ;)
The best things to do on the hot days: Swimming party with loads and loads of fresh Lemonade and Froyo(Frozen Yogurt) :) If the party doesn't work, the Lemonade does!
I'm totally ODing on Diet Coke. I love me a cold one on a hot day and it cools me right down.
In high school I heard that whatever temperature your wrists are is the temperature your body is. Not sure if it's totally true, but if I'm supes hot I put ice cubes on my wrists and it really does cool me down. Good luck!
I just had a baby girl this week, so we're both staying cool with the A/C blasting!
lots and lots of otter pops.
I'm also in TX and today driving home after church, the outside temp was 112*! The only way to stay cool here is in a pool or in the house. Personally, I crank the A/C AND a fan! And a large cherry limeade slush from Sonic doesn't hurt!
watching movies set in snow...haha
I'm thankful for central air!
sundresses.
summer bliss.
and spraying Boot's Rose Water Skin Tonic (at Target for like $8) on my skin and clothes to keep feeling fresh.
The heat wave hasn't reached us here in Washington state. IF it gets a little warm, we just open our doors, as there aren't many places here that have a/c.
We have a portable air conditioner. Rosie is her name, as she looks so much like Rosie the maid from The Jetsons I've considered sewing her an apron.
Frozen grapes.
Keeping cool at the beach as much as I can with my girlios.
water ice
banana milk
A/C and cotton dresses
Lemon water ice! South Jersey is the best.
We are just starting to get warm here, a popcicle got me through the day. No ac here.
What's been keeping me cool? Well, my mom and I haven't run the A/C for two years (we just can't afford to, except for extremes like this past week, 110+ heat index, yay), so we keep the windows open, close the blinds on the side of the house the sun is on, turn on the ceiling fan downstairs, stay downstairs, keep the freezer stocked with ice cream, and drink lots of iced tea. I think we've become acclimated, since it doesn't seem to be as hot to us as the weather man says it is.
lots of AC and water...
central air.
Ice cold lemon water and an overworked a/c!
A/C, pool days, and Perrier that is icy cold..
So glad to see your updates in my reader.
i just discovered mint limeades...refreshing & tasty :)they're keeping us from melting in our teeny weeny apartment!
AC full blast and fans on high, I also went and bought another stand up fan and have it right next to my bed at night.
Lots of cold Diet Coke, good AC and popsicles with my grandkiddoes! (and they are GRAND!!)
Love your blog!
Planting myself infront of my air conditioner. Thank goodness the heat finally broke today!
Lots of pool time with my kids, popsicles, and chilled watermelon!
diet coke + pool.
A/C, pool time, shade, and some nice, cool lemonade!
I live in Phoenix so our swimming pool keeps me cool...and lots of Diet Coke w/extra ice from Sonic!!
Cool mountain air...and skirts.
Nothing. I am melting Some new jewlery would probably do the trick, though.... :)
Sundresses, braids, and cold beverages.
Swimming and spraying aloe vera on my resulting sunburns from said swimming. (Although the sunburns definitely do nothing to help keep you cool; which is why I may have used the aloe vera on skin that wasn't sunburned too)
I love Otter Pops!
The Sno Shack by the Scera Pool. Love liquid carbs and ice.
fresh homemade smoothies every morning. I'm still melting living in an apartment without A/C but smoothies make it a bit more manageable.
Running through the sprinklers with my kiddos!
Strawberry yogurt bars, a daily must have in this heat! Love Ella Belle's shop!
I am trying to get my 3 year old over her fear of water, so we like to swim, swim swim!
My window AC unit and water, water, water.
...and I usually grab an extra shower at some point during the day. (Heat is no excuse for stinkiness! ...sadly, certain people on the subway don't seem to know this...)
AC! Fans, seltzer water, my wonderfully cold basement, and trying to move as little as possible, unfortunately that doesn't quite work when my summer job is babysitting kids...but frozen watermelon is very nice!
Ice Cream!
Our Vitamix has been our best friend for years! Slushes, Smoothies, & Shakes, oh my!
azfillmores@gmail.com
We like to go to free play area's. Like the kids place at the mall, or the library, or Hastings. Anywhere with AC and an activity for my 2 year old.
I live in AZ where's it's always 110 or higher and I LOVE being hot (I don't turn the AC on in my car for at least the first 10 minutes)! But OCCASIONALLY it gets even too hot for me to handle. When that happens, I take a dip in the pool, then lay out in the nice hot sun. :)
Snowcones and ac...doesnt get better!
Cold showers and sitting in front of a fan - I wish I could spend all day in front of that fan! Thanks for the chance - alicedemskehansen at gmail.com
Oh goodness, just...nothing. Nothing is keeping me cool.
No, that's not really true. Being literally (mostly) naked whenever possible was my main strategy last week. TMI? Oh, my bad.
Air conditioning and a lot of water. Also avoiding being out and super active in the hottest parts of the day.
fudgsicles. fudgsicles, frozen grapes, a killer swimming suit and all my long hair in a knot on the top of my head. that is how i am surviving in arizona! we don't mess around over here.
Staying inside in the A/C drinking cold drinks and eating fruity popsicles. =)
christmas music and air conditioning! :)
diet coke of course! (and a smelly swamp cooler)
A/C, ice water and whole fruit popsicles!
We like to make all-fruit smoothies to keep us cool!
Sleeping in my scivvies! And going swimming as much as possible!
Thanks for the giveaway! I've been reading spooky stories at night - seems to do the trick :)
9 months pregnant--so not too much is keeping me cool. I do eat popsicles like crazy and sit in front of the AC as much as possible.
A lot of time spent at the library and ice cream before heading to bed!
Constant A/C, ice water, and occasional visits to the swimming pool
I knew a girl who put her gel-bras in the freezer :-) I keep cool on frozen marshmallows, lemonade, and a/c.
How I stay cool? Keeping inside at all costs!
The pool and a fan!
A/C, chilled Coke Zero, and frozen yogurt :)
Skirts. Popsicles. Air Conditioned Cars. Fans. Flip Flops. Ice Water. Those are my "go to" must haves. :)
The ladies at Crest know my car, name and drink because I'm there a LOT! Pebble ice with Diet Coke with just a little shot of Dr. Pepper!
In Austin it is a summer full of lake, river and pool time with a side of sunscreen and mango pineapple smoothies :).
I just spent a fun week at lake Powell with family and friends!
Otter Pops!! Lots and Lots of them.
I'm in Utah and we are having unseasonably cool weather. All I need is my a/c. I WISH it was super hot, just for a few days!
coconut popsicles are currently stocked in my freezer:) They make AZ slightly more bearable.
Snow Cones! Always a must during the summer! :)
all of the sudden i love to be at work my my air conditioned office...never loved being at work before!
Air conditioner - ice cream - shorts. :)
Brazilian lemonade! It's non-alcoholic and actually made with limes, not lemons. Random. Anyway, it's delicious!
7 peaks, and all the lovely people that party there with me.
oh, and snow cones.
East Coaster here! I stay by the river, where there are occasional breezes. And I read novels in the air conditioned library.
banana slurpees from 7-11 and homemade snow cones.
They make me happy.
The pool, ice-cream, and ice water. I love summer, the heat and all.
I keep cool in my not-so-big above ground pool.... and enjoying the naturally cooler evenings in the pacific northwest!
I, alone, ate through a box of 24 big sticks from Macey's grocery. I hid them in the freezer and ate them on the sly. I have a very guilty red mouth.
A nice cool glass of lemonade, a fan at the foot of my bed, and Netflix instant streaming
I put towels and sheets in the freezer!
Blow drying my hair on the "cool" setting. And Missiles...only the greatest popsicle known to mankind!
snow cones I seriously get one everyday...Yikes I'll keep the heat though I hate winter!
We just got a swamp cooler. I am literally in love with her.
This dang desert is hot!
Kate @ welcomedtempest.blogspot.com
Sonic drinks are keeping us cool!
Giant mason jar mugs full of peach tea, and umbrellas in the sun :)
AC + otter pops do the trick.
I'm staying cool drinking Diet Coke by the liters, and sitting in front of the fan in my apartment watching every episode of How I Met Your Mother!
Drinking Horchata with ice and lounging by the pool!
Lots of swimming~and some cold Icees!
I know I'm not original but, I put ice pops down my back. Or, I take a clean wash cloth with water and put it in the freezer to have something to put on my head. :)
Boating and yummy tigers blood snow cones..Congratulations on the new gig.
We eat Trader Joe's mango and cream bars (only 60 calories each!), sit downwind of fountains, and put our wrists under cold running water.
wear lots of cutoffs and fedoras and go cliff diving.
Ice cold lemonade has been the trick for me. I keep a pitcher of it in my fridge for those moments when I feel myself melting from the heat
The thing keeping me cool this summer is my CAR AIR CONDITIONER. I have been going to and from our cabin in Island Park Idaho. Ever been there? It is very beautiful. So, that is the only thing keeping me cool this summer. BUT, as you know here in Utah it hasn't been too hot yet. YET. Michelle
