missing kismet.

ok, fine.
summer is officially over (though this nyc weather is making me second guess that..)....
and i can finally wrap my brain around saying goodbye to fire island....

here was one of my final trips in pix.

irony: mormon girl who doesn't drink beer desperate to protect her sensitive scalp so ..... enter beer hat.

we really were living the high life...

bike cruisers and ice cream cones.
always drive and shoot.

angry swans!

we bought limited edition fire island silly bands (in very curious shapes....) and beaded friendship bracelets from the local artisans of kismet (and by local artisans, i mean 12 yr olds in glee t-shirts trying to make a quick buck).
mint and strawberry mojito toes...
can you find my severed toe?

subsy on a ride (why is this photo small?!)whitty on a ride.
i was loving the locals .

we DANCED for at least 4 hrs to a sweet cover band @ the local pub &

enjoyed perfectly abandoned beaches.... except for mckismet- who practically threw a frisbee at us to get our attention... totally unnecessary, we'd already scoped him & those abs.

our happy place.

kismet, i miss you already.

stellie loves D

and chooses to sleep with him when he's in town.
it sort of hurts my feelings...
and then it doesn't.

cause d is pretty great and stellie thinks so too...

(no, i'm not an a-hole, i offered my dad MY bed, but he swears he prefers the pull out...
oh, and that's russ mouth- breathing in the background)

subsy and i are very efficient....

on one of our scheduled writing sessions (we're working on a very cool new project),
we took a little sustenance break..
thanks to the cute new cupcake shop on prince (their kitchy branding betrays the beauty of the shop and the quality of the sweets..),
we fed our brains with diet coke (naturally) & the most insane coconut cupcakes + whoopie pies (which subs nuked, cause she's obsessed with heated/cancerous desserts)

turns out, we finished our draft in record time... thanks to the sugar/caffeine rush!

d's victory tour!!

my D took this picture of stella and me in montauk in february 2008... just days before he was diagnosed with cancer.
we had just spent the most glorious week together, my d and me.
we'd done all the things he never got to do when he came with a big group.
it was heaven.
he was mine- no sharing with mom or 4 other sisters.

for a long time i thought that would be the defining adventure in my life with D. it was perfect, after all, and i was lucky to have it.

but thanks to your prayers and the faith of my dear d to be healed, he is in remission and taking his grand VICTORY tour back to nyc for the first time this week.

he has changed.
the city has changed.
i have changed.

we're all a lot stronger now.
and i'm going to schlep his (nearly) healthy body all over my big apple to eat at the coolest restaurants (i now know where all the cool kids eat),
and see 8 brand new broadway shows.

we're going to do nyc the way D and i do nyc.
excess in all things.

oooh and russ is coming along for a few days as well (she's contemplating a move & needs to approve my gentleman callers, naturally)!

if i go silent, that's why... we're celebrating my dad's exquisite life.

thank you, again, for your prayers and well wishes.
my heart is so full of you.

dating is awesome..

dating at incredible restaurants is awesome-er.
i loved tom colicchio's craft (specially the amazing short ribs, puree, soufflé)
and of course, the company.

i also really dig restaurants that give you muffins or treats when you leave...
it's as if they're saying, "i know you spent an obscene amount of money here.... and we feel sort of guilty about that... let breakfast be on us."

and i LOVED that breakfast as much as i loved that dinner.

turns out,

my great- grandfather was pretty frisky....
which explains a lot....

how awesome are those bathing costumes?!

fabulous fendi.

i could provide a very loving home for these heels and
i could provide wild adventures in the big city.

i would promise to keep them away from cobblestone cracks in the meatpacking district (naturally, i'd find a man to carry me to and fro...) and treacherous subway grates.
i will make certain that they are only worn around deserving men and other adoring women.

please come live with me?

if you'd like to sponsor their way onto my pedicured feet, you can find them { here }

perfect hoops.

these are cheap, cheerful, and the perfect size.
they've been a staple of mine for years.
find them { here } from banana republic.

a lovely afternoon with my girl, erica

began with lunch, hot gossip, life lessons, & tears...
and ended in a wild session in a wig shop.

cause that's how we roll.

blog admissions...

just another utah sunset

i'm a sucky blogger for the following reasons:

1. i don't really know the lingo....what is kirtsy? blogHer? summit things? seriously... i don't know.... and i'm really not up on the "blog world."

2. i don't do anything to promote my blog... cause i just really want to tell stories... and i can barely check my email, let alone put a post up...

3. i've been soo busy dating (i know, sounds obnoxious, but it's true) that i haven't had a second to blog or watch my trash tv (that's when i do my best work). seriously, it's been so crazy i'm 2 wks behind on MAD MEN (what?!?!) !!

but i love you... even those of you who leave crazy strange comments.

stella and i have gotten our groove back!
hopefully, i can steal away so i can tell you all the wild adventures we've been having.

girls on gold lame

going out with the gals is fun...
specially when it involves an impromptu photo shoot on a gold lame couch at one of the hottest clubs in the meatpacking district (always make s me thrilled that i don't drink when a cocktail weighs in at $20.. ouch)
subsy and mim
sadly, the couch was more interesting than the men.. but what else would you expect from the meatpacking district...

subsy long-legs and her neon manolos... or are those choo's?

either way.. i have fabulous friends.

fried oreos

are my favorite.
i like them so much that i even braved the feast of san gennaro (ugh... nightmare)
for some fried oreo action with subs.
they're like soggy oreos all warmed up....
but beware, their powdered sugar leaves a mark.....

a) lots to tell you about canyon ranch... i've slept exactly 5 hrs in the 2 days since i've been home... needless to say, i'm aching to go back!
b) i'm crazed and busy cause i'm hopping to chicago in the am for a random gig @ the field museum (can't wait to eat @ potbelly's, big bowl, pinky's, etc....)
c) you watching/listening to conference??? i wish i could stay home and savor it.
